Abstract

This chapter outlines some future research directions. In contrast to the fuzzy random variables treating the ambiguity of realized values of the random parameters discussed in Chapter 4, by considering the ambiguity of means and/or variances characterizing random variables, the concept of random fuzzy variables is introduced to express the coefficients involved in mathematical programming problems under fuzzy stochastic environments. In particular, attention is focused on the case where the mean of each of random variables is represented by a fuzzy number.
