Abstract

This book explores the pivotal role of social entrepreneurship in advancing the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing on four decades of research, the book emphasizes that entrepreneurship, beyond economic growth, must address pressing social, environmental, and cultural challenges. The book presents examples of social entrepreneurship initiatives that leverage knowledge to drive local political transformation, aligning with the SDGs. Key themes include the ability of social entrepreneurs to create innovative solutions, empower marginalized communities, and foster long-term, sustainable development. However, challenges such as limited funding, regulatory barriers, and scalability persist. The book also underscores the importance of collaboration among social entrepreneurs, governments, NGOs, and businesses to maximize impact. It highlights the need for research to inform policy and practice, measure social and environmental outcomes, and share best practices globally. By emphasizing the moral imperative of social entrepreneurship, this book provides a comprehensive framework for understanding how innovative business models can contribute to systemic change, address inequality, and promote environmental sustainability in line with Agenda 2030.
