Abstract

Participants in laboratory experiments start a real business rather than just learning about business with cases or taking part in business games and role plays. The focus is on how to ensure that the reality does not fall short of what the experimenter desires. Any aspiring entrepreneur can experience experiments by adopting, in different combinations, “Robinson Crusoe” and “Lemuel Gulliver” behavioural modes, as described below.
