Abstract

This chapter explores the connections between decisions and knowledge, showing that decision making is a knowledge-intensive endeavor. Decision support systems are technologies that help get the right knowledge to the right decision makers at the right times in the right representations at the right costs. By doing so, these systems help decision making to be more productive, agile, innovative, and/or reputable.
