Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards digital payment systems and cashless transactions. However, this shift has also highlighted the issue of social and financial exclusion, particularly among the elderly population who may not have the necessary skills or resources to adapt to these changes. This article proposes the implementation of a “Silver Generation” digitalization program to address this issue, which aims to provide education and resources to the elderly population to help them navigate the digital payment landscape. The program can include workshops, training sessions, and online resources, and businesses can offer incentives for customers who use cashless payment methods. However, we must also be mindful of the potential negative impacts of a cashless society on vulnerable populations and provide alternative payment solutions for those who do not have access to digital payment systems. Overall, by implementing a comprehensive program that addresses the needs of the elderly population, we can create a more inclusive and sustainable financial system.
