Number of Lawyers and Lawyer Career Mobility in Japan

Abstract

The number of lawyers has been rapidly increasing in Japan since the 1990s. This paper examines whether this increase yielded enhanced career mobility for lawyers as well. Based on our survey, we find that the answer is yes, especially after 1990s.
