Abstract

This chapter provides the first ever investigation of the role that CSR plays, if any, in the employer preferences of young job-seekers in Ghana. Our study, based on three CSR dimensions and two non-CSR dimensions with 25 attributes (see Sect. 1) found that work atmosphere, future viability and stability, job security and social services, continuing education and training, and career opportunities were the five most preferred attributes (found within the “employee responsibility” and governance and ethics” CSR dimensions). The attributes that were least on the minds of young job-seekers included social engagement, independence and ownership, internationality and attractiveness of location. It was surprising to note that environmental and social issues within the supply chain was ranked only 22nd out of 25 attributes although the young people professed to have a high regard for business’ environmental performance.
