Abstract

Ecuador is a dollarized upper middle-income country in Latin America, characterized by a diverse geography, a heterogeneous population and abundant natural capital endowment. Despite a period of economic growth, social challenges such as poverty, inequality and unpaid and inadequate employment are persistent and corruption is high. The implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is still weak and the legal framework not sufficient to enforce existing laws and guidelines related to CSR. Preference profiles of young job seekers reflect economic and social realities. Young job seekers are particularly interested in employers that offer them opportunities to grow in their careers, but that at the same time are acting in an ethical and transparent manner and offering a decent and fair work environment.
