Abstract

Spain, Italy, and France are developed countries that enjoy high living standards and have very high human development rates. Nevertheless, issues such as low birth rates and increasingly aged populations exacerbate problems related to the lack of skilled workforce in highly industrialized nations. It is in this context that we briefly analyze the socio-economic and the CSR context in these countries. Chapters “France”, “Italy”, and “Spain” examine in detail cultural practices and values. Similarities are evident, which is not surprising considering their common roots. These similarities are embodied, among others, in what we know today as a Mediterranean lifestyle, which encompasses everything from eating habits to social behaviors.
