CSR Level of Enterprises in Poland: Before and After Transition

Abstract

The research problem posed in this chapter is the question whether there is a difference in the corporate social responsibility level among enterprises created before and after transition in Poland. The aim of this chapter is to present and the pre-transition situation in Poland and discussing the social responsibility level in post-transition reality of enterprises. The author’s CSR continuum model will be the basis for discussing the level of corporate social responsibility. The empirical part, reflecting the present level of social responsibility, will be the basis for the analysis and evaluation of the research findings. The questionnaire technique and the questionnaire survey was applies as a research tool. The sample consisted of 385 business entities which participated in the study. The general conclusions of this study show that the dominant level that the pre-transition companies have achieved the C ++ (common) level, while the ones which have started their business activity after transition achieved higher—S (superior) level.
