Abstract

In the past decades of information technology development, if we can select only one place to represent scientific and technological innovation, Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay area should be the first choice. Over the past half century, Silicon Valley has become synonymous with innovation and digital economy globally from an extremely less developed area. We have the world’s largest number of high-tech multinational enterprises here, such as Intel, Google, Apple, Ustime, Oracle, etc. In the past decades, China has also created “China’s version of Silicon Valley” represented by “Zhongguancun” in Beijing and built a number of giants in the era of intelligent economy in a decades-long period. Therefore, how do we understand the ideological roots behind the Silicon Valley technology wave? What kind of external environment has shaped the wave of innovation in Silicon Valley? In recent years, we have seen that innovation in Silicon Valley seems to have formed a home of new political ideas. From Facebook and Google being accused of interfering in the US presidential election, to Facebook proposing Libra digital currency to define the global financial digital order, and then to Apple’s attitude against the US government’s foreign trade war, we see that technological innovation is changing the evolution logic of finance, trade and political order, which need to be traced back to the impact of the revival of American conservatism on the wave of scientific and technological innovation.
