Abstract

This chapter is dedicated to the memory of Philip Israilevich, a close friend and valued colleague, whose enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and good nature were inspirational to all who knew him. These pages present a method for measuring and comparing economic structure, using the input-output framework as a foundation, and demonstrated using data for the Midwest economy. These topics are among the many that captured Phil’s interest and imagination throughout his career.
