Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the consequences of the peripherality of the Nordic countries, in the context of European integration. We shall first try to clarify these concepts, in particular peripherality, and highlight the situation of the Nordic countries relative to other parts of Europe at the present time and previously. We shall then address the question of where the consequences of integration between the Nordic countries and the EU will occur. Finally, we shall discuss the question of what the consequences are likely to be.
