Abstract

This introductory chapter assesses the complex relationship between tourism and climate change, focusing on the spatial and territorial dimensions. It discusses the vulnerability of tourism destinations to climate impacts in different geographical areas, highlighting the role of geotechnologies in tourism studies. It also explores sustainable tourism development to address spatial inequalities and mitigate climate-related risks, while highlighting the psychological impacts of climate change on individuals’ mental health. Key findings underscore the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to trying to understand and address the complex challenges posed by climate change in the tourism sector.
