Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the entire book Post-Independence Development in Africa: Decolonisation and Transformation Prospects. The purpose of this book was to provide a comprehensive and chronological account of the debates and facts surrounding postindependence development discourses and practices in Africa and to present this account in a comprehensive order. Drawing from the debates in the chapters, this current chapter flags some of the potential routes that can lead to development realization in Africa. The chapter concludes that among the numerous efforts and approaches, political will by sitting political leaders should serve as the starting point. Future research could explore how the private sector could be engaged to play a complementary key role in supporting governments in launching development projects.
