Abstract

The underlying technology for digital currencies is blockchainBlockchain which is an electronic distributed ledger technology (DLT)Distributed ledger technology (DLT) that forms the basis of BitcoinBitcoin, and which serves as the foundation for most other cryptocurrencies. It has been defined in an article emanating from the FED “as some combination of components including peer-to-peer networking, distributed data storage, and cryptography that, among other things, can potentially change the way in which storage, recordkeeping, and transfer of a digital asset is done”.
