Abstract

In this chapter, various ideas of financial inclusion from the funding standpoint are discussed. This chapter presents a variety of opinions on who should be responsible for funding the costs of providing financial inclusion for a nation's population. It was highlighted that several scholars think it to be the private sector, while others feel it to be the governmentGovernment. On the other side, others believe that rather than using public money, initiatives and programs to promote financial inclusion, it should be funded through unique interventions provided by different sources. The private money theory of financial inclusion, the public money theory of financial inclusion, and the intervention fund theory of financial inclusion are some of the theories that are examined in this chapter. The final part of this chapter focuses on the effects that the Fourth Industrial Revolution could have on the funding viewpoint of financial inclusion.
