Abstract

This chapter serves as the introduction to a comparative analysis of Bank Based Financial Conglomerates (BBFC) post-Great Financial Crisis, aiming to fill gaps in Financial Conglomerates doctrine. The chapter outlines the book's objectives: to analyze BBFC's impact on the financial industry and capitalism, assess legal regulatory frameworks in Germany, the UK, and the US, and determine appropriate resolution strategies for Systemically Important Financial Institutions. The chapter introduces a structural classification of Financial Conglomerates and identifies three models: German, UK, and US. This chapter also discusses the importance of BBFC analysis in banking jurisdictions and outlines subsequent chapters focusing on conceptual frameworks, individual models, and resolution strategies. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for further research into BBFC's influence on other jurisdictions and finance sectors.
