Abstract

This chapter analyses the Parodi family. They become protagonists in a credit and financial system in great transformation, which has elements of tradition and innovation and simultaneously chances of significant gains and huge losses. The Parodis’ name is known in the history of private banking and finance and joins that of other European protagonists of the haute banque, and they interact daily in building a system that firstly lends to the Kingdom of Sardinia and later to unified Italy. The chapter highlights the association of the Parodis with the haute banque. The Parodis are able to condition the credit and financial markets where they operate. Their work is due to the progress of a sector that has contributed to the achievement of the Risorgimento project and to the industrial advancement of the peninsula.
