Abstract

This final chapter concludes by summarizing the main findings of this study and offering an elaborated model illustrating how local and global forces interacted in sub-Saharan Africa to influence labor allocation choices and industrial outcomes. It also reflects on the implications of these conclusions for recent debates on possible labor-intensive pathways to modern industrial development in sub-Saharan Africa.
