Abstract

The #BlackLivesMatter Movement is an international social movement that has risen as a social change agent to publicly condemn systemic racism and halt the brutal slayings and racist treatment of Black people in the United States by White police officers. This chapter will begin by offering an overview of social movements, followed by an history of the #BlackLivesMatter movement as a social change agent. Finally, examples will be given that show how social change efforts by the #BlackLivesMatter have encouraged my antiracism work in academia and in my community activism work. Implications for the field of HRD will be given highlighting how antiracism work can be reflected in various HRD platforms.
