The Moral Values of “Joint-Forces Culture”: The Example of Xuchang Relay Group

Abstract

China, a developing country, is experiencing large changes in its enterprises, as they transform from the traditional model to modern types. With China’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), China’s enterprises have reached an even deeper level of reform. Facing economic globalization, the companies are asking themselves how they should build their own corporate culture and—what is even more challenging—which moral values they should adopt to shape such a new culture. Extensive investigations have been undertaken to explore appropriate ways to build up corporate cultures of integrity for all employees. The following analysis of the development of a “joint-forces culture” in an old, state-owned enterprise (SOE) may illustrate these endeavors.
