Singapore’s Thriving Sex Industry

Abstract

Hollywood director Peter Bogdanovich filmed the movie Saint Jack in Singapore in 1979. In that film, easygoing expatriate American Jack Flowers becomes a pimp in 1970s Singapore who furnishes prostitutes to foreigners. He opens a successful brothel, but pressure from local mobsters soon puts him out of business. Along the way he becomes involved in a blackmail scheme with an American mobster.
