Abstract

The models of the for-profit corporation, public bureau, and nonprofit organization that have been analyzed so far are representative descriptions of each of these organizational forms. My purpose to this point has been to highlight the essential characteristics of the for-profit corporate, public, and nonprofit organization to determine in each case the relevant property rights structure and corresponding managerial decision behavior for implications for theory and policy. The comparative analysis of the preceding sections necessarily abstracts from many of the complexities and variations that exist in all three sectors.
