Abstract

Hans Tietmeyer’s is, perhaps, the most acute and concentrated intelligence which has dominated the German and international political, economic and monetary scene in his various capacities as Secretary of State in Bonn, as leader of the German Treaty Negotiations of 1990 establishing the German Economic, Monetary and Social Union (GEMSU), and since then as President of the Deutsche Bundesbank.
