Abstract

The contemporary economic history of Vietnam and especially its relative economic success in recent years have amazed a number of economists, political scientists, and historians alike, in the Western or market-oriented countries, in the former USSR states, and in the mixed economies such as Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
