Abstract

In the preceding chapter it was asserted that the role of the state in development has expanded, partially, through the intellectual dominance of the ‘developmentalism’ ideology. Another reason for the expansion of the state, and its enterprises, can be explained through the theory of public economics; the theoretical justification for the allocative role of the state is given in Section 3.2.
