Globalization, Economic Integration, and Political Disintegration

Abstract

As for any citizen of the states emerging out of processes of political disintegration, it is very tempting for one to try to evaluate these processes in the light of the long-term tendencies of economic integration in the world. Are these two sets of processes contradictory or are they two sides of the same coin? Is political disintegration most commonly regarded as counterproductive, as going against general integration and globalization trends in world history, really “contre courant”?
