Abstract

Commodity-economic logic does not arise inevitably in the history of human societies. While this logic necessarily prevails to the degree that a society-wide capitalist market dominates economic life, it is a contingent historical development which transforms not only material products but also human labour-power, the ultimate source of productivity, into commodities.
