Abstract

Historically, industrial policy has focused on heavy industry, but in recent years the emphasis has shifted to include computer-related products. If it is true that the rationale for the application of industrial policy is that industrial and governmental energies should be applied to those industries in which the people of the country believe their country should lead, then information technology will become an increasingly important object of industrial policy.
