The Trend Control Story

Abstract

In late 1979, two computer whizzkids, Mervyn De’Ath and Terry Casey, met Pierce Molony, a corporate executive with the large Dutch company, Holec. Molony had been charged with finding new businesses in the UK as part of Holec’s strategy of boosting international operations. Together they set up a hi-tech new venture, Holec Energy UK, with Molony, Casey and De’Ath as the directors, and Molony as managing director. The company had a notional capital of £100000 and Casey and De’Ath initially worked from home. After some success in gaining orders, premises in Horsham were acquired and further personnel, in particular Bob Rylatt and Andrew Vickerstaff, were recruited.
