Abstract

The political and economic crisis in Poland intensified the debate about the need for an economic reform. There was almost a consensus that only a reformed management system of the economy could cope with the problems facing the economy, namely low economic efficiency, market disequilibria and inadequate structure of the economy. In contrast to the past, several institutions and organisations came up with their own concepts of economic reform. In this way, they intended to influence the official concept of the economic reform which was worked out under the leadership of the Party. Among the several projects presented, one by the Polish Association of Economists and another by some authors from the Chief School of Planning and Statistics deserve special attention. The latter project was supported by Solidarity (Pysz, 1983).
