Abstract

The growth of multinational enterprise (corporations conducting a significant promotion of their operations in foreign countries) has become a major issue in recent years. Though the first multinationals evolved in the 19th century, it is during the post-war period that they have become major economic and political issues. They have been variously seen as threats to national policy, exporters of capital and jobs, autonomous sovereign empires, symbols of a new imperialism, and symptoms of a healthy capitalist development.2
