Abstract

Under self-management, the organizational set-up of business has become very complex. Vertically, the number of steps and levels of decision-making and of authority have been increasing; at the same time, lateral divisions have been expanding. The structure of self-management is contingent upon the size of a company; there are one-tier, two-tier and three-tier structures. In small and simple companies, self-management is organized on one single level; in medium-size companies on two levels and in large companies on three levels (Table 5.1).
