Abstract

We have discussed in the preceding chapter the approach to formulating macroeconomic policy in a closed economy which has in the period during and since the Second World War constituted the basis for most macroeconomic policy decisions in most major developed countries of the non-Communist world. The principal emphasis has usually been placed on securing the appropriate overall effect on demand by means of the government’s budgetary and monetary measures.
