Global Products and its Acquisition Strategy

Abstract

This case analyses the acquisition strategy of a blue chip American-based company called Global which specialized in fast-moving consumer goods. It had a reputation for ethical and moral business beliefs and highly sophisticated policies and procedures. This case examines Global’s acquisitions during a seven-year period in which four large acquisitions occurred. This case differs to the other cases in that the research examines the company’s actions over a series of acquisitions. The first acquisition occurred in the late 1980s and the remaining three acquisitions occurred in the early to mid-1990s.
