Abstract

Since the late 1970s when the term ‘Strategic Management’ came into widespread use superseding previous labels such as Business Policy and Corporate Strategy, a plethora of texts have been produced and a field of management created. Much of this activity has originated in the US and as such it has largely reflected US management practice. Moreover, many of the concepts adopted by western corporations have evolved in the USA and have often been introduced in other developed countries by American management consultants.
