Abstract

By now the reader will be aware that both authors are enthusiastic supporters of family enterprises and the role they play in society. This does not mean, however, that we are unaware of their weaknesses — and particularly their poor longevity record, which is in part due to the complexity of managing succession and designing an appropriate governance structure.
