Abstract

In this chapter we examine the experiences of flexible jobs within households. The employment status of all adult household members (aged 16 or more) was recorded in the BHPS at each wave, as well as their past job histories. We will examine the cross-sectional picture of households’ flexible employment and also summarise past experiences of flexible working of household members. For the cross-sectional picture there are now several waves of data which could be used. In some cases more than one cross-sectional picture is provided, in order to show that it does not matter particularly which one is chosen.
