Abstract

Cross-cultural training in business management, industrial relations and communication etiquette can partially prepare the foreign manager for working with Koreans in a branch office, agency relationship or joint venture. But what this training often fails to deliver is the need to become sensitive to the real human situation which may exist within the company. It can also fail to prepare the foreigner for the emotional stress of living and working with a company whose way of life, motives, decisionmaking processes, staff turnover and dynamic rate of change are so very different.
