Abstract

This paper has much less unity than the works its title echoes. The only link between the two parts is that both underscore Don Patinkin’s view of Keynes as a methodological Marshallian — though my task would have been easier (if not redundant) had he been more consistently so. I shall develop two propositions I have touched on before (in Flemming, 1987, p. 171, and 1988, p. 237, as well as 1973).
