Abstract

The integration of Eastern Europe into the world economy is a process that involves the expansion of direct investment as well as trade flows. The purpose of this chapter is to set the multinational activities of Yugoslav firms within the context of this long-term, postwar process, and to relate the Yugoslav experience to that of other East European countries. We shall also attempt to place Yugoslavia more broadly within the global movement by firms in the second half of the century to internationalise their production of goods and services through multinational entrepreneurship.
