Stage 3: On the European Scene

Abstract

If we step back a little to look at things in perspective, it is impossible not to be struck, when considering the fantastic progress that has been achieved in so many fields of human endeavour, by the total lack of progress in one of them, namely monetary matters. This is all the stranger as there is no area where progress is more important for the economy and the welfare of nations, and the history of the world since the beginning of the present century provides eloquent testimony to the consequences that monetary disorders can have on the happiness and the life of mankind.
