Financial Co-operation amongst Developing Countries

Abstract

Almost all the proposals discussed in this book up to now have involved modifying international financial arrangements within the existing set of North-South institutions. An alternative line of argument runs as follows: since the developed countries are unlikely to make many, if any, changes designed with the purpose of offering positive discrimination in favour of LDCs, the latter should explore financial options that do not rely on the compliance of the North. The purpose of this chapter is to examine a number of these options.1
