Abstract

It appears that the world has now reached the stage when one can attempt to take stock of the impact of technological progress which has spread in varying degrees to most countries, if not to all, and which has produced some expected and some unanticipated results, thus complicating the concept of economic development. The differences in political systems, cultures, social and economic values have added, in no small measure, to the problem of measuring economic progress since the Industrial Revolution.
