Abstract

The Chairman of the third working session was the British parliamentarian, John Farr, member of the committee on regional planning and local authorities of the Council of Europe’s Par- liamentary Assembly. The case for nuclear power was given in a paper by Professor Karl Beckurts, president of the European Nuc-lear Society and chairman of the governing board of the Nuclear Research Centre at Jülich. The case against was given in a paper by Walter Patterson from Friends of the Earth, London. The French parliamentarian, Jean Valleix, member of the Council of Europe committee on economic affairs and development, was the rapporteur for the session.
