Abstract

The 1947 Five-Year Plan decreed that the Yugoslav Gross Social Product should rise from about 90 per cent of the 1939 level in 1947 to 180 per cent in 1951 which implied a doubling within five years and a compound growth rate of 14 per cent. In fact GSP did not reach double the 1947 level until 1959 (see Table 3.2) and the compound yearly growth rate turned out to be 7 per cent (see p. 240) which is still a very respectable achievement.
