Abstract

The purpose of this report is to evaluate an innovation process as a guide for practical innovation work and to discuss some measures for the promotion of technological innovation on the national level. It is then assumed that technical development is recognised as being important for industrial progress and economic growth of industrialised nations. Lately, attention has been focused on the need for technical development to solve problems of a worldwide nature like pollution, sources of energy, fresh water and food supplies, etc. Unfortunately not much is known so far in the form of actual figures on results of different measures to promote technical development or innovation activities, to enable us to evaluate the efficiency of such measures. Existing statistics deal mainly with research and development, R & D, and then mainly with expenditure, while figures to correlate input of money with output of innovations and industrial growth are generally lacking.
