Abstract

We are now in a position where we may begin to draw together the different threads of the arguments of preceding chapters with the intention of formulating a model of resource allocation in the modern corporation. So far we have been concerned with three interrelated aspects of the R & D problem, that is, the nature and characteristics of R & D, models of allocation of resources for technological change in industry, and the evolution of the modern corporation and institutionalisation of R & D. In this chapter the development of a systems framework for analysing corporate allocations to R & D is founded on a number of points and conclusions made in these earlier chapters.
