Factors Accounting for Expanded U.S. Presence

Abstract

In this chapter we review the advantages inherent in direct U.S. representation, and point to the factors responsible for the expansion of foreign banking operations in the United States. A concluding section of this chapter analyses the development of foreign banking on a quantitative basis, and traces the expansion of foreign banks in several of the states which have been important growth centres.
